Lusting After : Traditional Rolled Arm Sofas

Do you ever find yourself drawn to something that is so the opposite of your style? Such is the case with this sofa:

Actually, I quite adore the entire space. The lightness of it all, the low coffee table...Yup - the entire room is my style but the sofa is not...and I adore it. It's very traditional and my style is not what I would call traditional - but I love it. It reminds me of Lauren of the blog Pure Style Home's sofa:

Which was a craigslist find that she reupholstered in that stunning green velvet. It's beautiful! Not getting too ahead of myself but as much as I love my current sofa & while it's built to last - if/when I move I may end up getting something like those pictured above. I've even already sourced two very close matches online.

The Ellroy Sofa available at Jayson Home & Garden (currently on sale!)

Or this two-seater sofa from Lee Industries (the same maker as Lauren's sofa above).

Ugh, these definitely have me wanting a new sofa. Good thing it's so not in the budget!

p.s. Have you voted yet? If not please do. If you have - you can vote again - several times if you want. It will count & the most vote wins. Simply click here. I'm #131. Thank you!

I love this style as well. I've been keeping my eyes open for an armchair & ottoman with this art. It's a classic.

These are the sort of sofa's we currently have in our house. Personally, I'm not really a fan, perhaps for a sitting room or a library.

I have no idea what sort of style I have. I'm gonna go with none. =)

One of my most favorite styles, a tight back, split back sofa with English arms and turned legs, with the obligatory casters on the front two legs....can't go wrong when buying a well proportioned classic design. And I love Sophia's choice in mixing traditional seating and porcelain lamp with a modern cocktail table, floor pillows and black and white photography...that mix is what makes the room feel fresh and modern even with a traditional item as its key piece. Good eye;)

Best,
Jaime

Those sofa's don't fall under my regular style either, but in a room they bring out that "wow" factor. It makes everything look so cozy.

I think those sofa are so timeless they really span the gamut. They would go equally well in super traditional or semi modern. How can you not love it?

My fave sofa will always be the Scroll by Montauk see

but you should check Abacus in Toronto to see if they carry something you like by the Rowe brand. I was very happy with the sofa we bought from them. They are made well in Virginia. Or check out Barrymore. They are made right in Toronto.

LOVE Sofia Coppola's living room! I think the Elroy sofa looks like traditional w/a contemporary twist! Love the choices!

These are pretty, but not my style. I prefer high arms that people won't feel bad sitting on. I generally choose comfort over style even though they're not mutually exclusive.

They are great when place in a place where they stand on their own because of the intricacy of the design. Look great when paired with piece with cleaner and simple lines... :)

Does anyone know who makes the exact sofa that SC is sitting on? It's really beautiful, the depth of the seating, the lowness of the sofa and the rounded corners of the seat cushions. Thanks very much.
