10 Things You May Not Know About Me

It's been a while since I did a post like this...a list or some sorts...and so I thought it would be fun to do one for today. Here are 10 random things that you may not know about me.....
  1. I have a streak of gray hair right in the front of my head. A la Stacy LondonI started getting gray hairs when I was in my early 20s. I used to tweeze 'em. Then I'd dye them. Then I discovered the ease of using mascara. Two quick swipes - bye bye gray. However, I haven't covered them for a few months now. Sometimes, they just don't bother me..and now that they've grown in thick enough for a full-fledged streak (instead of looking like scattered grays) I don't mind 'em. Matter of fact - I quite like it. It's unique. So I embrace them. Embrace the gray (for now)!
  2. I have four younger brothers between the age of 7 and (as of tomorrow!) 18. I also have an older sister who's almost 2 years older than me. I love my siblings soooooo much.
  3. I haven't had a date in about a year and a half....or a "real" boyfriend in about 5 years. I can't believe I just admitted that on the world wide web. I must sound like a real loser. (I often see people who've gotten divroced, dated, and remarried in LESS than 5 years.WTF.)
  4. I LOVE the look of film and am teaching myself to shoot 35mm film. I just (as in earlier today) picked up a mint condition Canon AE-1. I've been looking for one (haphazardly) for a few weeks now (since the light meter in my current one is broken so I don't use it) and can't believe my luck in finding the exact one I wanted at my local thrift store...complete with original leather case and shoulder strap. I am beyond excited!
  5. I could live off of chicken, eggs, mashed potatoes, noodles, shrimp, and lobster for the rest of my life. If that's all I could eat I would be a very very happy girl.
  6. I have three tattoos. As of tomorrow, I'll have four. (Tomorrow's my brothers 18th birthday and to do something memorable we're going to get tattoos! His first, my fourth.)
  7. I've never been drunk. Like, never ever.
  8. My great great great grandfather was Cuban. Which, by my calculations, makes me 0.00005% Cuban.
  9. When I'm buying things I never take the first item (meaning the item in the front or on the top). EVER. Of ANYTHING. Magazines, books, clothes, bags, anything in the grocery store, beauty supplies, a bag of chips, a bottle of water.....basically, anything I have to pay for. ANYTHING. And if there is only one left I'll ask the sale associate to check the back. I'm sure this is some kind of irrational phobia but I don't know the name of it. If you do, please let me know.
  10. My real name is not Kay ;)

What's something I may not know about YOU?

Wow, I thought I was unique, by never buying or taking the first/top item. Maybe it is a phobia.....

I'm there with you on number 9. Glad to know I'm not alone or a weirdo. LOL!

Yeah, and it just comes natural now. I reach over the first/under the top to get one from the bottom. My family even knows when picking something up for me not to take it from the front/top...and if it's clothes or something that's sized. I never take the front/top item of my size...weird.

I am exactly the same with number 9, it made me laugh so hard because I do the exact same thing every single time I'm in a store

your number 9 is me all the way. wow

I had my first hangover on my last trip to Chicago, and drunk dialed my mom :)

Ha ha numbers 1, 3 and 9 are all me too. Gray streak, long time since dated (by choice too, and happy with that decision), and taking things from behind the item in front (I figure they either haven't been used as a tester, or generally handled so much so are cleaner).

You are so not alone!!!

I wish I could say that I've never done #7, but I have been drunk once and only once. It was not a good feeling. #9 strange creatures we humans are, I seems to take the bag of chips from the back, the 2nd-3rd magazine. Have a great weekend :)

Oh I thought it was only me that never takes the first thing, especially with magazines.

lmao - seems that we all take things from the bottom/back...which may defeat the purpose if you think about it lol......

@Danielle - literally laughed out loud at the thought of someone drunk dialing their mother! too funny!

@Lynne & Sunny - Yay for the gray haired ladies! Unite! :)

I do #9 only with clothing. After working in a store, I hardly ever buy what's on the floor. I always ask to see something from the back lol.

Something about me? I HATE milk....something about it tasting slimy, slowing going down my throat and curdling in my stomach makes me cringe. I do however LOVE yogurt & ice cream. Can't get enough of it and would die if I couldn't have it anymore!

I only do #9 with books/magazines...I feel if I'm paying full price I should get the most pristine copy possible :-P.

me? I've wanted a tattoo for over 10 years and still don't have one.

I'm the same way with #9... And I really do think long and hard if there's only one of the item, I don't want something that every shopper in the place has had their paws on!

And I'm coming up on a year without a date or a bf, yikes!

I never take the first item, either. We should start a support group. My husband just makes fun of me - so not supportive.

I hope you post some AE-1 pictures here!

I just went on my first date (in SIX YEARS!) last night. and it's been equally as long since I had a boyfriend. I win the pathetic title on this one ;)

Don't feel bad about being single. Your not a loser for it. You're a good person and there are a lot of loser out there. If you lowered your standards you could have a boyfriend in a week. But keep your standards and the right guy WILL show up.

Have your tried internet dating? I think it's a great resource to weed out the undesirables. Match.com is a good one.

I relate sooo much to #9 So, Im not crazy after all... I am in my 40's and have one strand of gray hair.Yikes!... After drought years,my fd persuaded me to go w/her on a double date. We were VIP. I thought he worked on Wall Street.(we talked about investments etc) He was very elegant and such a gentleman. After discovering, I counsel high school youth, he wanted to fly me to an exotic island for the summer. Later that night, after an "incident"-I discovered he was in the mafia.LOL!! No more dates for awhile.

What no one knows about me other than my best girl fd and best male fd: I have a deep need to be held by a man and a woman. I have an emotional attachement to women(not sexual). But, sexually drawn to men. The perfect scenerio would be a man and a woman in bed. Both holding me. Yet, making love to the man.
Thanks for letting me say this thru your blog.
